tonight, there is a "traffic light party" at the bar -- wear red if you are taken, yellow if you are taken but willing to compromise, and green if you want to hook up.

i have decided to wear red because my theory is that women want what they can't have.

houseboatin'

the big grad houseboating trip is coming up and today the organizer, Arik, sent out a call for a possible party theme ideas. the criteria was that theme had to do with "boating and water." here's my entry; wish me luck!!:

I propose to have an "Exxon Valdez" theme. Possible costumes could include: negligent deck hands, US coast guard, an iceberg, drunk captain, and oil drenched sea-otter carcasses. For those thinking of being the otters, it could be fun to use chocolate pudding or nestle quick syrup as the "oil," and rub it all over your skin. It would be a great way to break the ice to have some of the other characters lick the "oil" off the sea-otter carcasses (also could double as a drinking game). I guess it doesn't have to be chocolate, I just don't know what other syrups are available. You may want to be careful to look closely at ingredients when buying a syrup as some people have nut allergies.

Ahoy!

EMERGENCY POST

posted by nathan

I am sickened and shocked.

I have been without internet access for the past 10 days. I decided to swing by an internet café to check my email and the blog and just now came across this message in my hotmail inbox:

Hi Nathan,

i dont really know what to make of your website. i spoke to you a while ago, and you said it was a big joke. Its more thatn a joke now, and your jerky friend Jeff is making me sound like an asshole and has targeted me on your website. We've been friends for a long time, and I would appreciate you taking off the rude comments Jeff made about me, and letting him know your own friends shouldnt be a target of his lame humor. Hope all is well in Vic.

Take Care, Lou

This message was sent from a very good friend of mine, Louisa Cohen. When I read it, I had no idea what she was talking about, but I knew that something wasn’t right.

I immediately typed nathanjoseph.blogspot.com into in Netscape address bar. What I saw then was the homepage of the greatest betrayal of this century. My blog.

I was speechless.

Jeff Cunningham has stabbed me in the back.

The only thing I can say now, to all my blog readers, is that I am sorry. So sorry. Things have gone terribly awry. I can no longer call Jeff Cunningham a friend of mine. I am sickened by what he has done to the blog during my leave. I have never been betrayed on such a grandiose scale. This is an unrepeatable back-stab of epic proportions.

Please, loyal blog readers, believe me when I say - WHEN I PLEAD - that I did NOT, under any circumstances warrant Jeff’s actions on the blog.

Let me tell you what really happened. I’ll start form the beginning.

On the evening of Saturday April 30th, I posted an “Important Notice” on the blog. In this post, I had announced that I would be moving to Victoria to and that I would not have internet access for about a week. In my absence, I assigned a temporary blogmaster to look after nathanjoseph.blogspot.com. This person was Jeff Cunningham.

I spent over two hours that day with Jeff, in person, going over the blog and his duties for the upcoming week. He promised me that he would take great care of the site and uphold the spirit that I had created. Jeff lied.

I called Jeff on the phone each and every day of my absence from the blog. I told him in detail every aspect of my move, listing off all my activities, classes, and interesting anecdotes. Our conversations sometimes lasted hours. Jeff told me that he was transcribing our conversations for the blog every day, and posting the details of my Victoria experience “for all the bloggers to enjoy.” I was even sending him pictures of me from my digital camera through a local mall “DIGIfriends” kiosk. He told me that he posted all of my pictures up on the blog everyday.

He did not do any of this. Instead, he sabotaged the blog and attempted to make it his own. Jeff turned the focus to himself and began posting articles about his life and even copycat photographs of some of my classics. Obviously, Jeff is not smart enough to come up with any original stuff on his own. He continued for days to clutter the blog with his lengthy stupid posts about nonsense, while telling all you readers that I had not contacted him in days and that I no longer cared about the blog. ALL LIES!!! Then came the ultimate low. Jeff claimed that I put him in charge of the blog indefintley and he began referring to himself as “head blogmaster.” He then proceeded to change the title of the blog to “Jeff Cunningham.”

When I saw this, I seriously gagged, I was that upset.

To add insult to injury, Jeff began to post advertisements on the blog and plead to you guys, my loyal readers, for donations.

I thought that Jeff could not stoop any lower, but I was wrong. He began to slander one of my best friends, Louisa. For those of you who don’t know, Louisa has been one of the main contributors (in terms of comments) to this blog. She has followed it from the beginning and has been trying to have fun with it. On one of Jeff’s last posts, he decided to publish unsolicited libelous comments directed at Louisa. This makes me the maddest of all. Fine Jeff, back-stab me!! But leave my friends out of this!!

I’d like to publicly apologize, right now, to my friend Louisa Cohen and to all of my other blog visitors and contributors. It was a mistake to put Jeff in charge of looking after my blog and I am sorry if he offended you in any way.

From now on, Jeff Cunningham is banned permanently from posting on this blog.

So a lot of you are probably wondering, what happens next? Well, for starters, right now I am sitting in an internet café in downtown Victoria.

It is my 22nd birthday today.

I really do not want to be spending my birthday re-formatting the blog and debugging all the sh#t that Jeff did during the past 10-days, but I have my priorities.

I must let you know, though, that I still will not have internet access for a few more days. So, I have appointed a new temporary blogmaster to maintain the site during this time. And trust me, the same thing will not happen again!

This new temporary blogmaster’s name is “Adam Locke-Norton.” He is extremely professional, and will oversee the blog in a likewise manner. He is aware of the recent havoc that has occurred at nathanjoseph.blogspot.com and is committed to maintaining the integrity of the site. I will be returning to the blog next week on a full time basis.

Please note: I am moving all of posts made by "Jeff Cunningham" to the very bottom of the blog where they will remain as a historical reference of what this blog does not stand for.

Thanks to everyone for continuously supporting this blog. Again, I am extremely sorry for the “Jeff” incident and I promise that it will never happen again.

Yours,

Nathan

IMPORTANT NOTICE

IMPROTANT NOTICE: this week, i will be moving back to victoria to complete my final term of school. i will be without internet access for the next week, and i do not want the blog to lay dormant, so i have assigned a temporary blogmaster for this time. after narrowing the pool of potential candidates from two to one, i am proud to announce that Jeff Cunningham (pictured above, left) will be taking temporary reign over my digital kingdom.

please note that jeff is new to blogging, and is a bit nervous about this upcoming responsibility. please be kind to him as he gets his digital footing.

This week, after 34 months in the making, we released our debut LP entitled "Ryce Pudding." Everyone at the label is pretty excited about the album, and we are all expecting big things for the group.

If you want get a sample taste of the Ryce, you can listen to a couple of our hit singles on the group's website: wildryce.tripod.com.

a comment about comments...

seriously guys, this is bs. this blog is supposed to be fun. it is not a forum for making crude remarks about the people in pictures/articles. i want to have the comments feature on my blog because i am a fan of conversation, not slander. right now, i am on vacation with my mom in san francisco; having to delete comments from my blog is not how i'd like to be spending my time.

this is post is not for everyone. most of you are posting some great comments that really add to the blog's spirit. but those who are using my blog as a medium for hate mail, it really isn't cool and i do not appreciate it. you know who you are.

i dont want to have to eliminate the comments feature, but if i have to, i will. from now on, let's keep it clean. thanks.
