working hard on the blog ;o)

big changes :o)

yo guys,

Just wanted to mention a few small, but important changes to the site.

1. I have added a few small advertising banners. This will increase the site's revenue, and allow us to operate. Quite frankly, we have been losing money for a while now, and this will help us get back on our feet, and continue to provide you with the same great blogging you've come to expect. I hope you will find that they are chosen to be tasteful, and do not distract from the blog itself.

Please don't hesitate to visit our wonderful sponsors.

2. I have set up a PayPal donation service for the site. As mentioned above, this will help increase revenue for the site, and allow us to add new great features that would not be possible without some extra cash float. This would allow me to post additional material, since I would have more time to blog and less time to worry about making rent :o).

Suffice to say I feel that any true Nate fan will contribute. Suggested donation is $5 (CAD)-- just give up one lunch out and you can support your favourite blog.

3. User "Louisa Cohen" is BANNED from nathanjoseph.blogspot (this site) until further notice. This is due to repeated forum abuse. A number of users have reported harassment. Louisa has a penchant for actively seeking confrontation, and I do not feel that is condusive to fostering the diverse blog community nathanjoseph hopes to be.

Louisa Cohen, you and your nasty remarks are no longer welcome here.

4. There is no #4 :o) (g)

okay guys, see you soon, remember to support our great sponsors

cheers

Jeff

IMPORTANT NOTICE

IMPORTANT NOTICE: I have just got off the horn with Nathan. Due to a large workload this term, he says he does not care about the blog, and that I am in charge until further notice.

While I am dissapointed that Nathan has abandoned several of his faithful readers, I feel that this decision may be looked upon as an opportunity for us to forge further into uncharted blogging terrain. Let's have fun, guys.

Note that I have changed the blog title accordingly.

cheers

I missed you!

I just got back from Philidelphia, where I had a very successful weekend. Though I did not make the cut to day 2, I went 3-3 (3 wins, 3 losses,) and made a healthy $350 and finished in a cool 151st place (out of 300+!) Sweet.

The trip was a blast, Philidelphia's an amazing city. The culture is so diverse.

They took a ton of pictures of me in the coverage, so I'll post a couple here soon in case you guys want to check 'em out.

I did some serious soul-searching on the way back. I want to take this blog to the next level in the next couple days. Expect some very cool changes :o).

Still no word from Nathan. I know he's really busy, but this is getting weird.

cheers

winning duels, breaking hearts

Philidelphia ho!!

hey gang!

Well, judging from the comments, it seems like everyone enjoyed yesterday's hilarious update. Who needs Nathan? (g)

Speaking of Nathan, I'm actually getting a little worried. He said he was going to keep me posted, but I haven't heard anything in a couple days. Hope he's okay. It's not like him to let down the blog readership...

I'm going to be out of commision for a couple days myself as I'm heading to sunny Philidelphia for Magic: the Gathering's 2005 Pro Tour Philidelphia.

Oh, did I not mention the fact that I am a professional card player ;o)?

This year's tournament has a $203,000 cash purse plus additional bonuses! Is any of that for me? Only time will tell! I am mentioned in a preview article for the event, perhaps because of my allegiance with a strong guild of other Magic card players, known as TOGIT (the only game in town.)

"The aforementioned TOGIT/Dutch squad features a plethora of the game's best players and top deck designers, from Osyp Lebedowicz and Eugene Harvey on the TOGIT side to Canadian evil genius Jeff Cunningham to the Dutch mad scientist Frank Karsten." -Pro Tour Philidelphia Preview

Damn straight! ;o) (g)

You can follow me at the event by checking the coverage at www.sideboard.com on Friday and Saturday!

Wish me luck!

cheers

Well guys, I have to admit, at first this comment really got to me. Here I am busting my butt trying to keep this blog going, and this guy's telling me I suck!

BUT-- even though it was not literally possible, I decided to take this man's suggestion to heart. You'll see what I mean.

(g) :o)

enjoy!

monday at the grizza's

Aloha folks,

No word from Nathan yesterday... hope he hasn't forgotten about us ;o).

In the meantime, I'll catch you up with what I've been doing. Last night I went to White Spot with my friends Adam, Ryan, and David. I ordered a mushroom burger. It comes with bottomless fries (that means you can order as many as you want.) But Adam and David didn't order anything, and they kept munching at my fries. But then the waiter saw this, and even though he didn't say anything, he seemed pretty pissed. Personally, I would prefer if my friends bought their own fries. I don't advocate stealing and that is what they were doing in essence. Not to mention all the ketchup, vinegar, etc, they had without paying for any food at all.

After, at David's house, we watched an old vhs tape of a play Ryan had acted in. It was fun because David has a huge bag of Pez candies he got really cheap because he works at Safeway. I Love Pez! Adam says they are very unhealthy for you, though. I suppose that's true.

David's girlfriend and her friends came over while we were watching the video. It got kind of weird. David and Ryan went to some nightclub called Plush with them and Adam and I just headed back to our respective homes. The nightclub scene just doesn't interest me. I'd rather head to an Internet cafe and chill with you guys. ;o) I ended up just watching the Bachelor though.

Okay, I'll post more later.

cheers

good morning, good morning, we love to stay up late, good morning, good morning, to you

hello, *yaaaawn*

just got up and wanted to see how everybody's feeling. Judging by the landslide of comments yesterday, I'm guessing the answer is "good." :o)

Oh yah, and just got off the horn with Nathan. He just had his first class at UVic, it went well, and he networked with another blogger! Perhaps a sponsorship or sister-site deal is in NathanFielder.com's future? I'll post the transcript in a bit but I'm pretty tired right now. Nathan sure loves to yak!

More to come in the next couple hours. I want to let you guys get to know me more. Get some emotional stuff off my chest. Keep your eyes peeled.

That's it.

Just a short post.

cheers

checking the mailbox

g'day mates!

well, it's only been 36 hours since I've assumed the role of Blogmaster, and already there's feedback:

"From : adam LN <-----@telus.net> (Email hidden)

Subject : nathanjoseph.blogspot.com

Dear temporary webmaster (Jeff)

I am concerned that your posts are too long. Stop cluttering the page please.

-Adam"

While part of me wants to send this email straight to the spam bin, that would contradict many of my values (I am a proponent of free speech.) As such, I am forced to address it.

I am trying to keep the posts short (and sweet) but at the same time I feel that the blog readers (that's you guys) want as much info as I can type. Nate's making the big move; this is a very exciting time for Nate fans! I would link a short blurb to another page but I don't know how to do that. I don't know how to post pictures either, but I will work on that. I have some old Polaroids I want to scan in.

So, guys, in conclusion, I'm not a professional, cut me some slack. That said, Nathan chose me for a reason, and that's because I'm dedicated to giving you the straight goods, even if "Adam" doesn't like it.

Ok. See you in a few hours, same Nate-time same Nate-URL. (g)

cheers

NATEMOVE 2005 UPDATE #1

Hey guys!

I'm excited to bring you the first live satellite update of Nathan's move back to UVic.

The original audio is available for download here. (Right click, save as.)

START RECORDING

Nathan: Hi everyone. Um, all... all my, fellow, um, blog readers.

Ah, I'm on the, this, the uh, ferry from Tsawwassen to Schwartz Bay terminal on my way back to the University of Victoria. And I'm driving my station wagon and my car's full of all the stuff that I'm bringing back. Um, which includes my duvet, and (unintelligible) . Uh, my mom packed my car for me, uh, which was nice, um, and then I said goodbye to them and went to the ferry.

Um, on the ferry I had, um, a Whitespot chicken burger with no fries and, ah, instead of that I got a full clam chowder, which is exceptional... on the ferry.

The conditions today are really nice. The water is calm, beautiful.

Um, while I was actually on the ferry though, eating my burger, I was sitting next to a group of-- I think they were about (loud noise in background) fifteen to like, twelve years old, uh, asian kids, about six or seven of them. And they were laughing hysterically, and it was at first kind of bugging me, but, after awhile I was kind of amazed, or intrigued as well, by the endurance of their laughter. This went on for about an hour that I...I...I sat there.

I was done my meal now, all I did was sit at the table, and watch them laugh. And the laugh was going strong, like they just had heard the funniest show... went for like an hour straight. And, I was just fascinated by it, and stood there and... and watched them laughing the whole time. And just thought... trying to figure out what it could be that they were laughing at because it looked like they were having such a good time. And... I never figured it out.

Um, one kid had cards, and he was shuffling them. And uh, that probably didn't have anything to do with the laughing... (trails off)

So I start school tomorrow and I have a pretty big courseload. Um, I'll try and do more updates. I won't have Internet access for a week, so I'll be talking to Jeff via telephone and updating him on what's going on. Um, I haven't been able to check any of his posts so I hope he's following the blog spirit and really doing everything well. (BLOGMASTER'S NOTE: I'm giving it my best shot Nate!)

Okay, uh, goodbye everyone, and take care, and, uh, goodluck with the upcoming week. Uh, Nathan Joseph signing off. Goodbye.

END RECORDING

Great to here from you, Nathan! We miss you!

Keep us posted, and stay safe.

cheers

Jeff

beer-shenanigans and flirting

Tonight was our end-of-year student film screening party!!! Woohoo!

Drunken Saturday nights always mean some amazing stories and this one was no different.

After the show, we went to our preferred watering hole, Alexi's Tavern. Around 2AM our waitress tells us that it is last chance to finish our drinks cos the place is closing. So everyone does... except me...

I hide mine under the table!

As soon as the waitress steps away with the other drinks I hoist mine back up, and begin slurping from it. Beer is splashing everywhere as I tongue the glass! A few seconds later she comes back, grabs it and says "what are you, a five year-old?" But it was hilarious while it lasted, oh man...

Then everyone got in a cab. There was a beautiful asian girl in the cab. I called out to her, "I won best editor today." She didn't hear me. I felt a bit sheepish. Kinda put my nuts on the line there and she didn't even hear me.

So I called out again "I won best editor today!!" She turned around, she definitely heard me this time! She nodded.

Awesome.

cheers

we built this city on blog and roll

Hola bloggers!

As you may have noticed by now-- I'm not Nathan! That's right... while Nathan moves back to UVic I will be maintaining his pride and joy, the blog.

Here's a little of what you can expect in the coming week.

1. Round the clock updates on the status of Nathan's move. We'll have the scoop on his new roommates, ferry adventures, and reintegration into the Victorian lifestyle.

2. Top 5 greatest dance songs. (21 years in the making, baby!)

3. The same high quality pictures, anecdotes, and general level of personal journalistic integrity that brought you to this blog in the first place! :o)

Stay tuned guys, it's going to be a blast.

cheers

Jeff
